I only have high marks for this Revit I course. It was well organized, with modules smartly crafted to get architects and interior designers efficiently up-to-speed for using Revit. For those who cannot take an in-person class, this online 4IDU course is the next best thing. The explanations are clear, and the ability to have Q&A with the instructors is a huge differentiating factor.

My office did a 40 hours training program with Sam from 4iD. Despite the steep learning curve, he made it as smooth as possible. He took the time to explain things clearly, was always very patient and answered all our concerns in a simple way. He’s very charismatic and made each one of our training sessions a fun and engaging one. After finishing the training, dealing with our 600,000 SF Revit Project, having 4ID to provide us with support, made our moments of frustration easier to handle. Whenever we reached out to them in moments of doubt, they were always very proactive and never hesitated to suggest a more effective way to do things, which we greatly appreciated. I’m personally thankful because when receiving the training and support from 4ID I got the chance to learn a new software, but also meet extraordinary people.

I am brand new to Revit. These tutorials were really helpful and I enjoyed the course overall. As an interior designer, I do wish we spent less time on the structural/architectural side of things. It would have been nice to have the option of starting from the interior instead of having to build the foundation and exterior of the building first. Learning how to draft existing conditions would be helpful as well. Other suggestions: 1. Have an optional video about the interface that is more in depth. Discuss where commands/tools are and what you can use them for. 2. Splitting videos up. One video per topic so that they are shorter and easier to refer back to. 3. Powerpoint slides with notes. (Ex: Screenshots with what commands to use).

Senior Instructor Samuel Mikhail

Over the past decade, Sam has worked with more than 50 architecture, interior and lighting design firms, as well as construction companies, to implement BIM technologies. Sam began his career as an architect, and transitioned to the BIM consulting during the early days of architecture firms converting to Revit. At that time, the industry standard was day-long training sessions that had little to do with the specific requirements of a firm. This inefficiency in a business that should be all about efficiency frustrated him. He began to envision a more nimble model of BIM consultancy and co-founded 4 Ideal Design (4iD) in 2016. Sam is a passionate educator with 12 years of teaching experience. He has developed courses for undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs that revolve around software implementation for architects, interior and lighting designers. He’s a faculty member of The New York School of Interior Design and the winner of NYSID’s Distinguished Faculty Award (2024). He’s the Program Director of NYSID’s Master of Professional Studies in Digital Practice Management, the first program of its kind, which prepares professionals to lead digital practice in firms. He is also a lighting designer who understands the profound value of lighting, and the challenges lighting design firms face. Samuel is a licensed Architect, NCARB & LEED BD+C certified. He holds an MPS in Lighting Design and is an Autodesk Certified Instructor.
